Today we had the culminating assembly of March Reading Madness. We celebrated those who read the most in each class. 9-A beat 9-B by a very small margin to win the MRM basketball. Seventh through Tenth Agers read over 7,000 books!!!

Today 9-A and 9-B participated in the annual Ninth Age Egg Drop. The girls used a shoebox and other household items to create housing for their eggs. We then dropped the boxes off of the balcony in the girls' gym. Eggs that survived the first drop moved on to a second drop. A total of seven 9-A eggs survived both drops. The girls will write about their experiences in composition class this week. href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcnpiPAV5vjGu6ZflRKmMktr3Yq2N537DFQMUEAy_FQVV8lIDBZ1R_n_KFn8pGSfLN_CyFbUIifGuCq_D5TSXDI8pcQHK2QFoC00yp7yzL1gef62Cb5jrFDBsqeX-1oUKaSCeR0DMUcPQ/s1600/DSC00319.JPG">

A Day on the Lady Maryland

On a very wet Wednesday a group of Ninth Agers went on a Living Classrooms field trip. We sailed on the Chesapeake Bay aboard the Lady Maryland. Students learned about water quality, plankton, oysters, crabs, fish, buoyancy, and more while building teamwork skills. Everyone had a blast despite the rain. There are also pictures from Monday's trip on Ms. Strom's blog , on Ms. Gentry's blog, and on Mr. Howe's blog.

If I Were In Charge of the World

We read a poem called If I Were in Charge of the World by Judith Viorst. Then we wrote our own poems with the same title. Click the box below to see a video of the girls reading the original poem followed by each student reading her own version. The entire thing is a little more than ten minutes long but is well worth the time.

A Beautiful Day With Our Buddies

On Thursday we took advantage of the great weather and played on the field with our Sixth Age buddies. Before we went out we took some pictures on the Lower School porch.

Island of the Blue Dolphins

We have been reading Island of the Blue Dolphins in reading class. After each chapter the students wrote a chapter summary. We are now about halfway through the book and the students are eager to share a summary of what they have read so far. Enjoy!

The girls enjoyed an Opening Day dress down day today. It was great to see all of the black and orange in the classrooms and hallways!
